Margaret was retired from Celanese, Unocal, Rohm & Haas, and Dow Chemical and was previously a member of Oakridge Baptist Church-Victory Temple. She was an active volunteer and leader for many organizations in Charlotte, with her past Red Cross experience being one of her most proud.
Margaret was a devoted wife and mother. Her spirit, uniqueness of laughter, strength, courage, and compassion will be lasting memories in many hearts.
She is survived by her sons, Raymond (Cynthia) of Indian Trail, North Carolina, James Fleig (Nancy) of Jacksonville, Florida; daughters, Susan Bruce, Donna Redmond (Bill), and Candy Young (William) all of New Port Richey, Florida; ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Haggard is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Raymond; her sister, Patsy Tucker; her brother, Ed Thomas; her daughter, Margaret Ann Clem; and her son, Bill Fleig.
A visitation will be Wednesday, October 20, 2021, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel in Mint Hill, North Carolina. A private celebration of life will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens on Lawyers Road in Charlotte, North Carolina, where Mrs. Haggard will be laid to rest beside her husband.
Memorials may be made to Matthews United Methodist Church, Music program or Hospice of Union County.
