Laura Cossuth Guthman, born on March 10, 1924, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 14, 2026, at the age of 101. Residing in Santa Monica, California, Laura was a beloved individual, known for her warmth and affection for those she loved.
Laura is survived by her son, Mitch, daughter, Julie, and son-in-law, Michael; ; and her granddaughter, Sierra. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Mel, to whom she was married for 59 years, and her parents, Dave and Minnie.
Together, Mel and Laura lived a very rich life, enjoying much of what Los Angeles has to offer. They loved travel, the arts, theatre, and throwing parties for their many friends and relatives. They both were lifelong, dedicated Democrats and philanthropists to many Jewish causes. Laura enjoyed calligraphy, flower gardens, playing bridge, and dining out with her friends and family. She also had a wonderful sense of humor.
In accordance with her wishes, services will be kept private.
