Commander Lawrence Edward Schnitzer, USN Retired, age 83, of Huntington Beach, California, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018 (12 Iyar 5778, 28 Omer). Lawrence was born July 10, 1934 in Ventura, California, to Jack and Becky (neé Stern) Schnitzer.
Lawrence is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Terry Schnitzer; his daughter, Laurie (Jae Coleman) Schnitzer Coleman; his brother, George (Janis) Schnitzer, his brother-in-law, Philip (Cookie) Cogan; his grandchildren, Zachary Coleman and Jordan Coleman; his nieces and nephews, Amy (Jason Wares) Cogan Wares, Geoffrey (Erika) Schnitzer, Jonathan (Jinsha) Schnitzer, Kathleen Connelly, Colleen Duffy,and Gregg Duffy; and his great nieces and great nephews, Maddie Wares, Nate Wares, Dylan Schnitzer, Mia Schnitzer, and Sean Connelly.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Duffy and Judy Schnitzer, Of Blessed Memories; and his great niece, Alexandra Connelly, Of Blessed Memory.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 4, 2018, at 11:30 am, in the Mount Sinai Chapel (lower chapel, administration building), of Mount Sinai Memorial Park, 5950 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles. Services will be officiated by Rabbi Stephen Einstein of Congregation B'Nai Tzedek, and will conclude Graveside, in Mount Sinai Memorial Park. The United States Navy will be Presenting Colors at graveside for Commander Schnitzer, a decorated and retired veteran of the United States Navy.
