He graduated from Sullivan High School in 1959, and immediately joined the United States Navy, where he served Honorably on the USS Coral Sea, until 1963. He received his undergraduate degree from San Fernando Valley College (know now as CSUN), then graduated from the San Fernando Valley College of Law in 1973. He passed the California bar exam in 1974, and practiced law for over 40 years.
Richard had been a member of the Los Angeles B'Nai Brith organization, where he and his family volunteered their time to deliver holiday baskets to the less fortunate every year. He was the patriarch of the whole family, and was always organizing the next get-together. He has many hobbies, but his true love was golf. You could find him any given day on the course, sometimes even playing 36 holes in a day. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband and father, who loved his family very much. He made sure you knew this, even in his last hours. "I want them to know I was blessed", he stated.
Richard is survived by his beshert (soul mate) and beloved wife of 43 years, Suzanne J. Singer; his sons, Michael Dean (Andrea) Singer and Joshua Steven (Mandy) Singer; his daughter, Rebecca Anne (Daniel) Deleon; his grandchildren, Sienna, Brynna, Michaela, Griffin and Colton Singer, Cole and Gabriella Singer, and Scarlett Joe Deleon; and his numerous cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 1, 2016, at 10 am, in the Eternal Light Chapel of Eden Memorial Park. Services will conclude Graveside, in Eden Memorial Park. Flowers are being accepted; and donations in Mr. Singer's memory to Colon Cancer Alliance are welcome and appreciated.
Arrangements under the direction of Groman Eden Mortuary, Mission Hills, CA.
