

Robert Alexander Berman, age 91, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, in this home in West Hills, California. He was the loving husband of Addie Berman. They shared almost 66 years of marriage together.
Bob was born in Seattle, Washington, at Virginia Mason Hospital on May 11, 1932, to Leo Berman and Anne Gertrude Katz.
He graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Linguistics, and from CSU, Northridge, with a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
He was a Computer Programmer and worked for Boeing, RAND, Vector General, and Bunker Ramo.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and served as an Electronic Technician for the Alaska Communication System in Anchorage.
He was a proud member of the Urban League whose mission is to enable an empower African-Americans and others in underserved communities to achieve their highest potential and secure economic self-reliance, parity, power, and civil rights.
He also volunteered as a business mentor in Junior Achievement.
He had a love for music, especially Dixieland Jazz, and along with his wife, were members of the Valley Jazz Club for many years. He also enjoyed listening to rock music on his huge JBL stereo speakers in the living room of their Melba house and going out dancing with Addie almost every weekend while living in Manhattan Beach. Favorites include Pink Floyd, Carlos Santana, War, and CCR.
He was an avid LA Kings hockey fan would record and watch every game together with his wife Addie.
Bob had an insatiable curiosity and enjoyed sharing articles and stories with friends and family. He had a love for reading and ab sorbed knowledge like a sponge.
He believed in a healthy lifestyle that included mostly healthy eating with the exception of some sweets, especially chocolate and cookies, and regular exercise, and had many friends at the Athletic Society gym, originally called Racquetball World.
We will miss his humor, intellect, quirkiness, eternal optimism, long-winded yet interesting stories, enthusiasm for life, and love for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Addie, three children, Cindy, Dan, and Ali, seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter, brother Steve, nephew Michael and cousins.
