December 7, 1932- May 23, 2024
Yona Solley left us peacefully on May 23, 2024, with her family by her side.
Yona Howard was born on December 7, 1932 in the British Colony of Aden. She moved to Jerusalem, and then to London. It is in London where she met Sam Solley, whom she married and moved to America with in 1960.
Yona and Sam built a wonderful new life together in America with lots of hard work, and a little bit of Sam’s luck. Yona worked two jobs, as a controller at a hospital and as a real estate agent. Her determination, strength, and strong work-ethic were an inspiration to all those she knew.
Yona was a generous and kind person; she loved to give people little treats, fruits or chocolates anytime they saw her. She was an adventurous spirit, and loved to travel the world and share her experiences. Yona will always be remembered for her giving spirit, tenacity, and good heart.
Yona is survived by her daughter, Karen; son, Ed; daughter-in-law Winnie, her five grandchildren; Talia, Ashley, Sabrina, Amanda and Sean; younger siblings Shiloh and Esther; as well as many extended family members in London and Israel.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at 10AM at Eden Memorial Park, 11500 Sepulveda Blvd., Mission Hits, CA 91345.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Yona’s memory to the American Defamation League (ADL).
