

Mrs. Bernice Belk Perry, 95, passed away quietly on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Brian Center in Monroe. She was born June 29, 1918 in Union County, NC to Robert C. Belk and Ethel Green Belk. She graduated from Mineral Springs High School and Kings College in Charlotte. She utilized her education in her work for the Agriculture Administration and later for BB&T.
Bernice married Thomas A. Perry in 1947. She is survived by a son, Thomas Rex Perry and wife Catherine, special cousin Louise Moore, three grandchildren, Jennifer Perry Cecile and husband DJ, Erin Perry Goodson and husband Drew, and Andrew Thomas Perry, and three great- grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Goodson, Anna Catherine Cecile and Sara Marie Cecile.
Bernice thought a lot of her extended family at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. She was a member of the adult Bible study group for many years. She enjoyed sewing and needlepoint projects and participated in making various crafts to sell at the annual church bazaar.
A funeral service will be held at the chapel of McEwen Funeral Home in Monroe on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00. A private interment is planned at a later date.
