Donna Wilson Edwards, age 61, of Monroe, went home to be with the Lord on December 19, 2020. She was born in Union County on December 17, 1959, the daughter of Smith and Roberta Wilson. She was preceded in death by her mother, Roberta Helms Wilson and her brother-in-law, Larry Edwards.
Donna was the definition of a true servant’s heart. She proudly taught in the Union County Public School System for 32 years, having taught both elementary and middle school. Donna truly blessed the hearts and souls of so many of the youth in our community. This was evident by the countless times past students stopped her in public to speak to her. She loved and cherished this role.
Donna’s husband, Tim, had the great honor of standing by Donna through all of her years of service to the community. He loved her immensely and had great pride in watching her in every phase of life. Tim especially enjoyed these most recent years in Donna’s retirement, going to the beach and enjoying time with one another. Their relationship and their 40 year marriage was truly something special that inspires their sons and their families. Tim will miss Donna greatly.
As much as Donna loved her role as teacher, she loved and cherished the role of being Momma even more. She loved her sons to the depths of this world and would always be there for us. She truly valued family and fought to make it the best she could. She taught her boys what it meant to be the rock of a family. Then, when her role evolved to Nana, we truly saw her calling. She loved her four granddaughters like no one else could. They were the light in her eyes and she couldn’t get enough of them. The love that she has for her granddaughters is incredible and will be felt for a lifetime. Donna’s most important love was her love for the Lord. Her faith taught all of us the importance of that relationship with our Savior. Her legacy will forever live in our lives and many others. We’ve been blessed to call her ours.
Donna is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Tim Edwards; her children, Josh and wife, Amanda, Jordan and wife, Hailey; her granddaughters, Emersyn, Everly, Stevie and Josie; her brother, David Wilson and wife, LeeAnn; her niece, Anna Kearns and nephew, Luke Wilson; her father, Smith Wilson and wife, Carole; her sister-in-law, Dianne Short and her brother-in-law, Ricky Edwards.
