

He was born on September 28, 1954, to the late Erskine and Katherine Earnheart.
Gerald attended South Mecklenburg High School and was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He was a “jack of all trades” and could fix anything. Gerald had many hobbies and interests in his life including coaching little league baseball, woodworking, fishing, old cars, and gardening. He was also a volunteer fire chief and EMT as well as a human calculator. More importantly, Gerald loved and treasured his family. He was a beloved husband, father, PawPaw, and Boxer dad.
Along with his parents, Gerald is preceded in death by his brother, Mike Earnheart. He is survived by his loving wife, Debra; children, Allison Coyle (Mike), Daryl Earnheart, Ashley Earnheart, and Shane Earnheart; grandchildren, Taylor Earnheart (Cassidy), Zoe Purser (Rodger), and Averie Earnheart; great-grandchildren, Dylan Purser, and Ryanne Purser (due July 2026); and sisters, Brenda Johnson (Greg) and Beverly Land.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Shiloh Baptist Church, located at 2301 N. Rocky River Rd., Monroe, North Carolina. A funeral service to celebrate Gerald’s life will be held following the visitation at 3:00 pm with Dr. Brad Kelley officiating. A private burial will be held by the family prior to the services.
