Mr. Hampton Funderburk, 97, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 18, 2015 from Hospice of Union County. Hampton was born October 8, 1917 in Chesterfield County S.C., son of the late Howard and Sloan Jones Funderburk. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret McCollum Funderburk. Hampton was a WWII Veteran and a retired Union County Fire Marshall. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. Services to celebrate his life will begin at 2:00 P.M. in the McEwen Colonial Chapel, with Reverend Jack Little and Pastor Ronnie L. Helms officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife: Dian S. Funderburk of the home, step children and step grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
