Joan Belk Helms, 89, of Monroe passed away on February 10, 2021. She was born in Union County on January 30, 1932 to the late Robert F. and Estelle Knight Belk. Joan retired from Yale after 27 years of service.
Joan is predeceased by her first husband, Houston Lee Helms and brother, Robert “Bobby” Belk. She is survived by her husband, Bobby (Bob) Coy Evans; daughters, Belinda Helms Bell of Marshville and Deborah Helms Wunderle (Carl) of Newnan, GA; her brother, Kenneth Belk (Jody) of Florida; grandchildren, Aaron, Alison, Alex, Liz and Jonathan and great-grandchildren, Peyton, Victoria, Lucas, Payton, Bobby Cole, Jake, Allie and Emily.
Due to Covid restrictions, the family will have extended visitation hours to allow for social distancing on Friday, February 12 from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. The funeral service and burial will be private.
