A man of great intellectual curiosity, Ken embarked on an enlightening academic journey. He first embraced the teachings of Wingate University in Wingate, NC, where he acquired an AS in Business Education. Recognizing the value of stewarding knowledge, he then pursued his aspirations at Appalachian State University, obtaining a BS in Business Administration and an MA in Economics and Business. In his quest for wisdom and greater understanding, Ken ventured further into the realm of education, earning an MA in Computer Resources and Information Management from Webster University.
Ken's vocation in teaching extended beyond imparting knowledge; it embodied a profound devotion to his calling. At Trident Technical College in Charleston, SC, he embraced the discipline of Secretarial Science and Business, nurturing young minds with grace and diligence. His altruistic nature later led him to York Technical College in Rock Hill, SC, where he fervently shared his wisdom, guiding aspiring students in the realm of Information Technology.
Beyond the confines of his professional pursuits, Ken's spirit thrived in various artistic and soul-enriching endeavors. Within the pages of countless books, he discovered joy and enlightenment, embracing the transformative power of literature. Immersed in the symphony of nature, Ken nurtured a backyard garden, cherishing the vibrant tapestry of life. A testament to his commitment to well-being, he partook in the rhythm of the YMCA, devoting himself to physical wellness, he ran and loved doing Yoga. And in a delightful dance of exploration and connection, he savored the joys of travel, journeying near and far alongside cherished companions.
As Ken bids farewell to this worldly existence, his memory remains etched in the hearts of those he held dear. His beloved husband, Reggie Maner, and cherished fur baby, Winston, comforted Ken's soul throughout his journey. He now reunites with those who preceded him in the embrace of eternity: his father, Mr. Otho Fred Howey, his mother, Mrs. Eva Penegar Howey, and his twin brother, Keith Howey.
