

She was born on March 10, 1926, to the late John W. and Mattie S. Trull. Growing up in Union County, Louise worked at a soda shop in Monroe, North Carolina as a teenager. She had many loves and enjoyments in her life including shopping, coffee and cleaning her house. She loved cooking, especially for her family and friends, and collected cookbooks as a hobby. Her most important love, however, was her family and they always came first. Louise was known for her kindness, generosity and care for others. She was also a lifelong Baptist.
Along with her parents, Louise is preceded in death by her husband, Bill W. McCollum; daughter, Debra D. McCollum; brother, John W. Trull, Jr.; and sisters, Christine Tarlton, Elizabeth Carpenter, and Clara Crump. She is survived by her children, Donna M. Cuthbertson (Tommy), Ronald McCollum, and Mark McCollum (Robin), all of Monroe, North Carolina; grandchildren, Leann M. Gerfen (Josh) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Della C. Alexander (James) of Gastonia, North Carolina, Zachary Cuthbertson of Charlotte, North Carolina, Emmy M. Craig (Adam) of Monroe, North Carolina, Callie Helms (Casey) of Monroe, North Carolina, and bonus grandson, Daniel Armstrong of Wadesboro, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Caroline and Cora Helms, Mark and Melody Craig, and Ellie and Rorie Alexander; and brothers, Gene Trull (Marie) of Kennesaw, Georgia and Maurice Trull of Indian Trail, North Carolina.
A funeral service to celebrate Louise’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 11:00 am at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, North Carolina. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the McEwen Colonial Chapel. Burial will be private.
