Mabel Keefer

She was a wonderful wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother as well as a devoted friend to many. She worked at Laminex for decades until she retired in 1999. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed fishing, water skiing, bowling, ceramics and painting. She was very active in the Senior Center of Monroe with arts and crafts.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arnold Keefer; son, Marcus Keefer; and mother, Lousetta Helms. She is survived by her daughters, Jackie Moore, Pat Kowalo (Gary), Robbie Helms (Horace), and Karen Smith; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one brother, Frankie Helms.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street in Monroe, NC from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe at 1:00 pm with committal following immediately after at Lakeland Memorial Park.
