Mrs. Bridges was born April 24, 1938 in Charlotte, NC to the late William J. Farmer and Annie Shute Farmer. She survived the polio epidemic in the 1940's, having spent several months in the hospital alone at the age of 2, separated from her family. She did not let her limitations from the disease stop her from living life to the fullest. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, maw-maw, and GG (great-grandma). She retired from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department after 30 years of service.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 47 years, Wilden A. Bridges; sister, Inez Brownlow; and brothers, Henry Farmer, Billy Farmer, and Gerald Farmer.
Frances was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Indian Trail where she attended every Sunday, until her health no longer allowed her to. Yet, she remained an active member of the Emanuel Sunday School class.
She is survived by her son, Brian Bridges of Concord, NC; daughter, Annette Tyson of Monroe, NC; sister, Carol Peeks of Rock Hill; brothers, Bobby Farmer (Bettie) and Tommy Farmer (Scotta), both of Pensacola, FL; 2 grandchildren, Josh Tyson (Laureen) and Erin Tyson; one great grandchild, Teagan; and several nieces and nephews who loved Aunt Frances dearly. She was especially close to her niece, Pat Hall, and nephew, Michael Farmer. She was looking forward to the September wedding of her only granddaughter and the upcoming birth of twin great-granddaughters, Addison and Ansley.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, June 26, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary at First Baptist Church of Indian Trail, located at 732 Indian Trail-Fairview Road, Indian Trail, NC, with Dr. Mike Whitson and Reverend Danny Myers officiating. Burial will be at Sharon Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm prior to the service.
McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Mary Frances Bridges.
