Randy Alan Rape Age 59, husband of Teresa Phillips Rape, since 1983 of Waxhaw passed away on August 1st, 2024, at Atrium Health in Charlotte after a brief illness with his loving family by his side. Randy was born on April 11th, 1965, in Union County to his parents Homer & Margaret Rape previously residing in Monroe before settling in Waxhaw, NC. He attended and graduated from Parkwood High School in 1983. Mr. Rape was a self-employed agricultural farmer. He was a member and former deacon of Mary Elizabeth Baptist Church. He was a wonderful Christian man and always believed that God was in control.
Randy married Teresa and they made their home in Waxhaw, NC. He was a devoted husband, father & pawpaw who cherished time spent with family. In addition to raising their children, he maintained his career as an agricultural farmer and self-taught mechanic and handyman. When he wasn’t busy on the farm or fixing things around the house, you could find him at Roughedge getting some food, Reese’s cups, and cutting up with his friends. He loved quality time with his grandson and all the talks they would have while carrying him to school on Thursday mornings. His most memorable quality would be that he would never hesitate to help someone out whenever they needed it. Rain or shine, day or night, if you called him, he would be there.
In addition to his wife, Teresa, he is survived and will be dearly missed by his two sons: Travis of Waxhaw and Cory and his wife Mackenzie of Wingate. His mother Margaret Rape of Monroe. His brothers Mike and his wife Pam Rape of Monroe, Darren Rape of Monroe, and Kevin and his wife Selena Rape of Tabor City. His sisters Sondra Purser of Waxhaw, Wendy and her husband Ronnie Phillips of Waxhaw and Amy and her husband Rick Scott of Monroe. His sister-in-law, Angie Blackburn of Waxhaw. His grandson Noah Windham of Monroe and his many special nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his father Homer Rape of Monroe, his father-in-law Henry and mother-in-law Joann Phillips and his brother-in-law Greg Blackburn of Waxhaw.
Randy's family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Charlotte Atrium Health Surgical Trauma ICU & Monroe Atrium Health CCU staff for their wonderful care.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:45 PM on August 5th, 2024 at Mary Elizabeth Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the church sanctuary. One “last ride” around the block before the burial service at the church cemetery.
