Teddy was an adoring husband, loving father and grandfather. He was a dedicated employee at Contractor’s Building Supply in Monroe for 30 years. Teddy’s first and greatest love was his wife, Teresa, who he treasured as his best friend in life. Next to his wife, his five children and fifteen grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He most enjoyed spending his time with family by playing softball, basketball, horseshoes, and board games. He was a faithful fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels and Dallas Cowboys, never leaving home without a hat on proudly displaying one of the teams. Despite the pain it leaves behind for his family, there is comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his eternal bride.
He is survived by his children, Jennifer Austin (Travis), Terrie Deese (Lynn), Ted “Bookie” Helton (Colleen), Josh Helton (Lauren), and Trey Helton (Taylor); his grandchildren, Tiffany, Kaitlyn, Nellie, Jonathan, Gabbie, Teddy III “T3”, Tara, Kireigh, Joey, Hailee, Brawley, Ryker, Lucas, Trenton and Emersyn; and his sisters, Crystal Mathers (Dan), Dianne Kiker, and Kathy Ball.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 with burial at Lakeland Memorial Park.
