

William Nick Gusler, Sr., age 91, of Monroe, passed away on November 6, 2014 at home. He was born on March 26, 1923 in Franklin County, V.A. to the late William McKinley and Nellie Sigmon Gusler. He served in the Army, trained at Camp Sutton and was a veteran of World War II. Nick retired as a line foreman at Union Electric Corporation.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Catha Lee Gusler; his son, William Wayne Gusler; two sisters, Mammie Y. Marshall and Christine G. Ingram; three brothers, Herman Lee Gusler, Jessie Davis Gusler and Owen Henry Gusler.
Nick is survived by his daughters, Jane Beaver and husband, Freddy of Monroe, Judy Laney and husband, David Sr. of Monroe; sons Tom Gusler and wife, Ganelda of Mt. Ulla, Jerry Gusler and wife, Karen, Ron Gusler and wife, Tonya, Nick Gusler and wife, Faye, all of Monroe; fourteen grandchildren, James Beaver, Jonathan Beaver, Justin Beaver, Melinda Brown, Tim Gusler, David Laney Jr., Scott Laney, Tracy Laney, Kim Morgan, Jennifer Hough, Nicolas Gusler, Jeff Adkins, Alicia Moss, and Cristy Tadlock; twenty three great-grandchildren, Jenna Beaver, Jarrett Beaver, Jaxson Beaver, Emma Gusler, Ava Gusler, Seth Brown, David Laney, III, Michel Conley, Natalie Bell, Kaitlyn Laney, Colton Laney, Kacey Laney, Cara Laney, Holly Laney, Logan Laney, Brett Morgan, Kyle Morgan, Malayna Morgan, Hayden Hough, Elizabeth Hough, Akira Adkins, Anslea Moss and P.J. Moss; two great-great grandchildren, Abby Laney and Maverick Bell; his brother, Wallace Lester Gusler; and his sisters, Ella C. Nash of Collinsville, VA., Linda G. Spicer of Pelham, NC and Hattie G. Quisenberry of Martinville, VA.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 10 at the McEwen Colonial Chapel in Monroe. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. till 7 p.m. Sunday, November 9 at the funeral home.
