I worked with Bill at the Washington Star in 1979-1981. We all had a great time together selling advertising for The Star until the paper closed. Bill called me when I was at The Economist in New York around 2009-2010 to tell me about a book he was writing. Tonight I took out my final edition of The Washington Star and looked up a list of names printed on a page commemorating all of the employees that worked for the paper. I saw Bill's name and ended up seeing the obituary. My sincere condolences to the family.

We were so very sorry to hear of the passing of our dear neighbor.  We will miss seeing him in his red hat, waving to us from the front porch.  He was such a sweet man and we extend our deepest sympathies.

Thank you for sharing your family photos.  You could see the joy his grandchildren gave him.  It's a wonderful way to remember Bill.
