He was born in Yadkin County on October 21, 1922, son of the late Asa Edward and Susie Brendle Wilkins. Howard was a member of Oakland Baptist Church, volunteered at Health-Quest of Union County, and conducted a radio ministry-The Sunday School Lesson with Howard Wilkins-for over 37 years. He is survived by his sons, William ""Bill" Wilkins of The Woodlands, TX, Robert "Bob" Wilkins (Dian), Kannapolis, NC, David Howard Wilkins (Jeannette) of Cartersville, GA; his daughters, Judy Wilkins Evans of Roxboro, NC, and Patsy Wilkins Johnson of Harvest, AL; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; his sister, Hattie Comer (Junior) of Yadkinville, NC.

The family will receive friends from 3:00pm until 4:00pm Thursday, May 10, 2018 at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Wilkins will begin at 4:00pm in McEwen Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.
