

Alan Edward Fortin, a brave and cherished husband, father, brother, son and Poppy, passed away on November 27, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on August 26, 1957, on Staten Island, New York, Alan was known for his hard-working, honest, and accomplished nature.
In 1967, at the age of 10, Alan and his family moved to New Jersey. He participated in Track and Cross Country at Northern Burlington County Regional High School in Columbus, New Jersey, from 1972 to 1976, running a remarkable 4.16 mile. His dedication and resilience were evident from a young age.
Alan joined the New Jersey Air National Guard, serving in the Maintenance Group of the 108th Wing. His military career was marked by bravery and devotion, as he proudly served in the Persian Gulf War, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Noble Eagle, and retired with 26 years of service.
In 1984, with his father and brothers, he built a log cabin as his first come. While he was serving in the military, he and his brothers also joined the Franklin Fire Company in Columbus, New Jersey, where he later became President.
After retiring from the military, he continued his career in Quality Assurance for the United States Government in Philadelphia, PA, Courtland, AL, Huntsville, AL, and Troy, AL, before finally retiring in 2019.
An accomplished and published author, Alan wrote "Finding Hope with Cancer," sharing his inspirational journey and what he learned while researching ways to fight cancer.
Alan's life was deeply rooted in his faith, family, and patriotism. He is preceded in death by his mother, Joan Fortin, and is survived by his loving wife, Lori Fortin; children, Aaron Fortin (Jillian Fortin) and Brooke Henninger (Nicholas Henninger); grandchildren, Noah Henninger, Olive Henninger, June Henninger, and Isaac Henninger; father, William Fortin; brothers, Gary Fortin (Elaine Fortin), William Fortin (Deborah Fortin), Edward Fortin (Dawn Fortin), and David Fortin; as well as nephews, Christopher Fortin (Joshua Copeland), Eric Fortin (Larissa Rebensky), and Jacob Fortin.
Alan's life will be honored with a visitation on December 8, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 am, both held at Frazer Church, 6000 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36117. A graveside service will take place on December 10, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, FL 32508.
In honor of Alan, the family asks for donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, UAB Medicine, and the Wounded Warrior Project.
Alan Edward Fortin's legacy of loyalty, devotion, and faithfulness were reflected by these words that touched his heart: "God, Family, and Country" in this exact order of importance. He will continue to inspire all who knew him.
