Ashley Ann Sayre (33), a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on July 26, 2023, in Montgomery, Alabama. Ashley was born on August 8, 1989, in Dallas, Texas. Ashley was currently residing in Montgomery. Although, the majority of her life was spent in Utah, which she considered her home.
Ashley, often known as “Smash,” loved everybody from the moment she met them. Her vibrant personality and fun-loving spirit could light up a room. Ashley had a big heart, laughed often, and was loved by all that knew her. Ashley looked forward to and cherished her time with friends and family. She would jump at the chance to play golf, pool, and card or family games. Some of her favorite things were the Dallas Cowboys, pineapples, cats, and flamingos, although she had a special place in her heart for all animals. Ashley was the definition of a food connoisseur and always took the time to document her favorite foods with a permanent place on her social media page for all to see and enjoy. Her new friends in Montgomery recently introduced her to a corn nugget, which immediately became one of her favorite food obsessions.
Although Ashley enjoyed commonly being referred to as Smash. Her favorite nickname and the one she looked forward to the most was Auntie Ashley. Ashley had a special bond with her three favorite nieces, who were everything to her, and she was everything to them. Her memories and times spent with them will forever remain in their heart. She always made time to hang out, play games, or provide an ear for the latest teenage gossip. Auntie Ashley was indeed a favorite, and they will miss her dearly.
Ashley is survived by her mother and stepfather, Lora and Jason Newsom; brother, Ryan Sayre; sister and brother-in-law, Heather and Michael Sotto; and her grandparents, Ron and Betty Thornton.
She is preceded in death by her father, Keith Sayre, and grandparents, Jack and Louise Sayre.
Ashley’s time on this earth was short, but cherished. Ashley absolutely adored her father, whom she lost to cancer nearly 12 years ago. Our hearts are broken, and we will forever be grateful for our time with her. Our angel has returned home to be reunited with her father once again. Her light will forever shine in our hearts and memories. Those that knew her loved her, and those that loved her will miss her.
