

The late Ernest and Odie Gilmore welcomed their twelfth baby out of 13, Barbara Sue into the world September 6, 1939. She graduated from Sydney Lanier High School in 1957, in her teens she performed with two of her sisters, Delores “Dee” and Faye as the “Gilmore Sisters” dancers. Barbara would teach dancing throughout her 20s. Her love of the arts would hold resident the span of her whole life. She loved music, performed in the Montgomery Little Theater and saw the world through “art lenses”.
The natural beauty of nature was embraced through her commitment to gardening which led her to become an avid gardener. She enjoyed traveling and many trips to the beach. Her passion for cars drew her to become a member of various sports car clubs including The Corvette Club.
Barbara retired from the State of Alabama, working at the help desk and console area as an operator for Data Systems Management Division (DSMD), as it was called back then.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Crumpton, a son, Gerald Crumpton, her parents, eight brothers and 4 sisters.
Cherishing her memory are her survivors, son, Brock Lacy (Denise), granddaughter, Hannah Lacy, grandson, Nicholas Lacy (Charles Gaines) and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will visit with friends on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home 10505 Atlanta Highway Montgomery, AL 36117. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM with interment immediately following in Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
