Mr. Baker served in the US Army from 1952-1955 with the rank of staff Sargent where he served almost 3 years in Germany during the Korean conflict. He was proud of his 34 years in the civil service through the US Air Force at Maxwell Air Force base where he retired from in January 1988. His hobbies and interests included spending time with his family, wood working, Alabama football and watching western movies.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Baker; his 3 children, Steve Baker (Vickie), Richard Baker (Debbie), and Anita Stafford (Robert); 7 grandchildren, Heather Little (Stacey), Lee Baker (Amanda), Jeremy Baker (Ashley), Brent Baker, Lauren Cowan (Matt), Jessica Tsekouras (Alex), and Jonathan Stafford; and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 older siblings.
Graveside service will be held at Alabama Heritage Cemetery at 2 pm on Sunday January 29, 2023.
