

Bunny was born in Wichita, Kansas on August 14, 1942 to Dr. L.E. and Elizabeth “Betty” Nevens VanValkenburgh. She grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and attended Edison High School. After graduation, she attended William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri and Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma where she met her beloved husband Larry Dean Rentfro. After graduation from Oklahoma State, Larry and Bunny married on January 25, 1964 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and had two children.
Bunny enjoyed a career in education and child development, and she led her family through many moves in support of Larry’s career in health care administration. Bunny was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at Oklahoma State University, a dedicated member of the Methodist Church, and a valued volunteer with many organizations throughout her life.
After retiring to Tyler, Texas, Bunny and Larry moved to Montgomery, Alabama to be near family.
Bunny is survived by her devoted husband Larry Dean Rentfro, son Donald Ray Rentfro and his wife Missy of Montgomery, daughter Sheri Rentfro Acosta and her husband Chad of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Paige and Garrett Rentfro of Montgomery, and Annaclaire and Madeline Acosta of Baton Rouge, her sister Janiece V. Toma of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, nieces Kimberly DeBerard, Deborah Meade, Kristin Stephens, and nephews David Black and Stephen Toma.
Visitation will be at Wesley Church in Montgomery, Alabama on Friday, October 10 at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Alabama Heritage Cemetery in Montgomery following the funeral.
