

Lt. Colonel Rainey served in the United States Air Force from January 1976 to August 2001 and retired as a Lt Col. He then became the editor of the Journal of Logistics until 2012 at Maxwell Air Force Base Gunter Annex. Following his time with the Journal of Logistics, Colonel Rainey moved to Maxwell Air Force Base to become 42 Wing's Exercise Program Manager. Craig retired on August 31, 2021.
During his 26 years of service to the Air Force he served in numerous joint command and logistics billet from Arizona to Turkey, to Spain, to Illinois, to Florida, and finally to Alabama.
He was an avid body builder, and took great joy in antiquing and refinishing furniture.
Craig holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Troy State University and a Bachelor of Science in Geography from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.
Mr. Rainey is survived by his loving wife, Nancy A. Hunter of 32 years, his children Abe Rainey (Ariel) of Snowbird, Utah, Peter Rainey (Danielle) and their children Gabrielle, Isaac and Ephram of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania.
Alongside his immediate family, Mr. Rainey is also survived by his brother David Rainey (Kimberly) and nephew Grant Rainey of Winter Park, Florida. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Albert Rainey III and his mother Betty Lucille (Govern).
A graveside celebration of life for Mr. Rainey will be held at 2pm (EST) on February 4, 2022 at Ft. Mitchel National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Alabama
