

WALP, Kenneth Charles, age 60, of Montgomery died Saturday, November 13, 2010. He was born in Quakertown, PA, on April 30, 1950, to the late Alfred C. and Ruth (Banes) Walp. Jay R. Smith Mfg. Co. employed Kenn for 35 years, during the last 15 years as VP of IS&T. He served as an officer of his neighborhood association for three years, the Ballroom Club for ten years, and the Montgomery Ballroom Dancers for two years. His civic life included arts patronage at Davis Theater and ASF, participating in Montgomery’s coalition of neighborhood associations, organizing neighborhood watch and graduating Senior Police Academy. As a beloved father and husband, he led by example with hard work, determination and generosity. He was predeceased by a sister, Nancy I. and her husband, Richard Lerch. He is survived by his wife, Susan W. Walp; his son, Joseph C. Walp (Margarita P). of San Francisco; his daughter, Elizabeth A. Woodward (David) of Montgomery; sister Kathleen M. Walp of Quakertown, PA; brother Phillip L. Walp (Barbara C.) of Montgomery; and nephews & nieces. Family and friends are invited to the Visitation on Thursday, November 18, 2010, at 6 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 7pm, at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, 10505 Atlanta Hwy. He will be interred later in Quakertown, PA.
