Myrna Cobb McHenry, beloved mother of three children, ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, of Montgomery, AL., passed away peacefully at the age of 84 in her home with her husband, Ned McHenry, and her daughter Sherry McHenry by her side on March 31, 2025, leaving a void her family cannot fill.
Myrna was born in Goshen, AL. on January 16, 1941, to Luther Lee Cobb and Louise Fowler Rogers. Myrna’s childhood was surrounded by close friends, Joan Beard, Carola Jeter, June Bryan, and Jackie Langford. These women along with her sister, Joyce Dubose, would form a sisterhood and friendship which would carry on throughout all their adult lives. Myrna graduated from Goshen High School, where she met the love of her life, Ned McHenry. The two married shortly after high school graduation and Myrna enrolled at Troy University. Myrna later attended Chauncy Sparks School of Cosmetology before beginning work as a beautician in Eufaula, AL. and continuing her career as such following moving to Montgomery, AL. Later in life, Myrna went to work at the Alabama State Bar Association where she retired.
Myrna was a devoted mother, whose children were her pride and joy. She dedicated her life to placing their needs above her own and sacrificing for their successes. The children felt every ounce of love and support she provided and could not ask for a better mother. Although, the children sometimes questioned whether she may have loved fishing more…
Myrna’s overwhelming love for her family was only surpassed by her first, and unmatched love of Jesus Christ. She served as a church pianist in both Abbeville and Montgomery AL. She was a vocalist in the church choir, assisted with Vacation Bible School, and taught Sunday school for over 30 years at Eastmont Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL.
Myrna was preceded in death by her father, Luther Lee Cobb, her Stepmother, Marrette Newton Cobb, her mother, Louise Fowler Rogers, and Stepfather, Fred Emory Rogers.
Myrna is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Ned McHenry. Her Sisters, Joyce Dubose (Ben), and Mary Reed, her Sister in law, Kathryn Flowers (Jessie), her three children, Sherry McHenry, Marc McHenry (Katherine), and Jason McHenry (Amanda), her grandchildren, Jennifer Berry (Josh), Phillip Sellers (Megan), Krystin McHenry, Dalton McHenry, Mackenzie Harrison, Abigail McHenry, Charis McHenry, Timothy McHenry, Noah McHenry, and Irene McHenry, and her four great grandchildren, Brayden Berry, Anna Berry, Timmer Herman, and Adalynn Sellers, all who will never forget the love and joy she brought to their lives.
A visitation for Myrna will be held Friday, April 4, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Eastmont Baptist Church, 4505 Atlanta Hwy, Montgomery, AL 36109. A funeral service will occur at 11:00 AM. A committal service will occur immediately after the service at Alabama Heritage Cemetery, 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36117.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations in Myrna's memory be made to the Eastmont Baptist Church Choir or the charity of your choice.
