

Mr. Butcher was born February 29, 1932 in Maryland to the late Grover and Margaret Butcher. He joined the United States Air Force in 1954, served his country during Vietnam and retired after 30 years of service with the rank of Lt. Colonel. He held numerous positions to include Navigator and Director of Logistics. Mr. Butcher taught electronics at J. P. Technical College and was involved in numerous Service Club organizations throughout his life. He was a member of Frazer Church and in his spare time loved gardening, yardwork and being a handyman.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Margaret A. Butcher; his children, Paula Olson, Gayla Butcher, Laurie Lucas (Terry); Grandchildren, Scott Olson Jr (Shannon), Kenneth Olson (Rebecca), Matthew Olson (Jennifer), Jon Lucas, Jennifer Rugh (Stephen), Five great grandchildren, his sister, Hazel Duvall and his brother, Clifford Butcher (Doris).
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dorothy Hobman.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home 10505 Atlanta Highway Montgomery, AL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM and an interment service with military honors to immediately follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
