Rosalind (Rose) Chandler Weeks, a longtime resident of Montgomery, passed away peacefully at her residence on February 6, 2020 at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 51 years, Cecil Weeks and her seven siblings. Rose is survived by her three children, Donna (Ron) Carlson, Paul (Theresa) Weeks and Jan (David) Mrozinski as well as five Grandchildren and five Great Grand Children who all referred to her as Nan.

Rose was born in Millport, Alabama on July 9, 1924, the fifth of eight children. She graduated early from Millport High School and made her way to Birmingham, found a job at Silvers Variety Store where she met her future husband. They married in November, 1942 and soon he was off to India where he would be stationed, while flying the “Hump” (the Himalayas) into China, for the remainder of the war. After they were reunited, Rose and Cecil raised their children in Montgomery and Florence. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She loved the Lord and her family and her dear friends more than anything.

Rose was known for her fierce independence, developed through the Great Depression and World War II, but she cherished her time with family and friends. She liked to tease and to give a sideways look with her mischievous smile. That smile and the twinkle in her eyes will be greatly missed.

We want to thank the staff and management and friends at Wesley Gardens for their tireless efforts and the time they offered to make Rose’s twilight years as comfortable and involved as possible. Memorial contributions can be made to AGAPE of Montgomery or to a charity of your choice.

Donna, Jan and Paul..., I just want to offer my deepest sympathies. I always enjoyed spending time with your mom (my Aunt Rose) especially when observing her interacting with her brothers and sisters. They were a close-knit and fun- loving group of siblings, and I miss them all!! That reunion we had in Gulf Shores was hilarious!! With Love - your cousin Greg

To the Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Rose was special to our family and we loved her very much. I cherish our time together and am so grateful that I met her on Twelve Oaks Lane 23 years ago and asked if she would like to sit some with my 2 year old. As she loved kids, she soon became a member of our family.. I frequently had to drop the kids off for a spend the night, as Alex and I occasionally had to be at the hospital at night. They loved going over there! She taught them how to play dominoes, took them for walks, watched movies, and cooked their favorite spaghetti. There are so many more memories that I could share, but it would take a book! She loved you all so much and was so proud of everyone in her family. She loved sharing with me the accomplishments of her kids, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandkids, siblings, and friends.
Love, Susan Kreher and Family

I will always remember our phone conversations so fondly. As I was completing my dietetic internship rotations at the VA hospital in Minneapolis I remember calling you every week and loved our brief chats. You were the BEST baker, so loving and honest {sometimes a little *too honest* ;) } We will miss you Grandma Rose...
