

Chance, William Alan, 39, Petty Officer First Class, died August 20, 2012. Visitation will be at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home Monday, August 27, 2012, from 5:00-7:00 PM. His Funeral Service will be at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at 11:00 AM. Graveside Services with full military honors will be at 1:00 PM, at Sardis Cemetery in Sardis, Alabama. Alan was a lifelong resident of Hope Hull, Alabama, and a 16 year U.S. Navy veteran. During his naval career, Alan trained in Great Lakes, IL, Orlando, FL, and Charleston, SC. He received assignments in San Diego, CA, Panama City, FL, Groton, CT, and Guam. His last duty assignment was in Minneapolis, MN, as a U.S. Navy recruiter. He completed two deployments in the Persian Gulf while serving aboard the USS John C. Stennis. He was a graduate of Auburn University Montgomery with a Bachelors degree in Marketing. He attended Lowndes Academy and graduated from Jefferson Davis High School. Alan is survived by his parents, Mary and William (Woody) Chance of Hope Hull, AL; brother, Kenny Chance of Montgomery; sisters, Mary Ann Gibson (Jason) of Montgomery and Susan Wynn (Carey) of Hope Hull and nieces and nephews, Melissa Chance, Matthew Little, Erin Wynn, Courtney Wynn, and Ryan Wynn.
