

KIM, Yong Sun, 88, a longtime resident of Montgomery, died peacefully surrounded by family at home on October 1, 2020 after a short illness. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jung Sook Kim; his three loving daughters, Ye Kyoung Kim, Kim HS Reza and Christi Doh. He was known as “HALABUJI” to his granddaughters, Anisha Reza, Hyo Ju Park and Kyoung Hwa Park and grandsons, Arju Reza, Kevin Doh, Eric Doh and Hyoung Keun Park. Yong was born in Seoul, South Korea on December 2, 1932. He lost his father at a very early age and his mother Jung Soon Kim given him much care and love. He enjoyed his youth filled with the joys of driving motorcycles and traveling to his favorite places. He came to America as an Executive chef with HILTON HOTEL in Beaumont, Texas. His magic hand produced many recognitions at the Hotel and in Beaumont. His creative genius was mentioned in articles of local newspaper. He was a member of Taylor Road Baptist Church. Yong loved sports and was always active, Golf was his favorite and he loved it with a passion. He also took on Bowling for a while and had the focus of a pro. He always got excited about traveling and he went on some memorable cruise trips with his family and grandchildren. His favorite trip was always a trip to a casino town where he always enjoyed a few games of poker and good food which he knew well from his time as a chef. He was always smiling, having fun, and loving everyone around him. He will be immensely missed by everyone. A service will be held on Tuesday 3:00 p.m. October 6, 2020 at Heritage Funeral Home, 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, Alabama 36117. His final resting place will be at the place of his choosing at the Mausoleum next to his late son, Jong Wook Kim.
