A loving and adoring husband, Jeff lived for his wife, who was his childhood sweetheart since Jr. high. Together, the two of them built a family full of love, laughter, and good food. His family was his everything and though he was an excellent father, it was obvious that his grandbabies were the light of his life. He was their beloved "Poppa" and for them he was willing to do anything, from having his hair braided to even putting on a face full of makeup and proudly getting pedis with polish on his toes. Jeff was also a wonderful brother-in-law. When he wasn't fighting with Tony (best frenemies), he was usually found fishing with Keith. His sisters-in-law, Kelly, Kim and Danielle, absolutely adored Jeff and his shenanigans.
Jeff knew no stranger in life and was the kind of giving individual who would provide the shirt off of his own back and did...especially for family and friends. A great bullsh*tter, Jeff loved conversing with anyone, anywhere. He truly made friends wherever he went and was known to even chase those same friends down at Walmart just to talk. When not providing his family with the best memories in life or giving out his famous Poppa hugs, Jeff could often be found out on his tractor at the lot, out fishing or looking for his favorite black squirrels.
Jeff was a wonderful mentor and role model. He worked hard to provide for his family as a construction supervisor at Legacy Construction. Most importantly though, Jeff was the patriarch of his family and the brightest light of his loved ones' lives. His wife, children and grandchildren will forever remember Jeff for the GREAT dad and Poppa he was. Most importantly, they know just how proud he was of them all.
Those left to cherish Jeff's beautiful memory is his wife of 47 years, Karin Theriot Bertrand; three sons, Jeffrey J. Bertrand Jr. and his wife, Talitha, James R. Bertrand and his husband, Michael, and Kade W. Theriot and his wife, Danielle; his two daughters, Kalyn Bertrand Macaluso and her husband, Trey, and Kelsi R. Theriot; his mother, Doris Pennison Bertrand and five grandchildren, Krislyn Bertrand, Kadence Bertrand, Kanon Bertrand, Abigail Macaluso, and Taylor Macaluso. He is also survived by two brothers, two sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was reunited in heaven with his father, James Bertrand and one brother and sister.
The family requests that a time of remembrance and visitation be observed on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 1:30pm to 4pm at Hargrave Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held privately by the family at a later date.
