

Alan joined the Civil Air Patrol at the age of 14, where he soon progressed to a leadership role. He was a graduate of Muskegon Heights High School. Later moving on to become Staff Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corp, serving during the Korean War. Alan retired from GTE, where he had steadily advanced from equipment repair to his role in management. During his years at GTE, he eagerly excepted every opportunity to keep up with ever changing technology. He participated in many activities and held many certificates, including HAM Radio (K8UDY), Cable T.V. and aircraft pilot. He was also a past member of I.B.E.W.
Preceding him in death were his parents, William and Alice (Juhnke) Fletcher, and a brother, Glendon D. Fletcher.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary (Price) Fletcher; sons, Gary (Vanessa) Fletcher, and James (Michelle) Fletcher; daughter, Nancy (Fletcher) Spira; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother Donel (Betty) Fletcher of The Dalles, OR; and sister Elaine (David) Stauter of Muskegon Heights.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted by the family to cover final expenses, along with medical expenses.

A memorial gathering will take place Saturday May 14, 2016 at 11:00am at Whitlow's Banquet Hall, 4610 Airline Rd., Muskegon.
