Duwayne Marshall Hill

DuWayne “Sonny” Hill, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, February 1, 2024. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan to Gilbert and Vivian (Burgess) Hill. DuWayne was married to Joan Darcy on December 17, 1953, and the couple was together for 61 years until her passing in June of 2014. They had 8 beautiful children.

DuWayne served in the military and was a Corporal in Ft Carson, Colorado. He worked in many departments and was a truck driver for 15 years. He also worked in a variety of factories for 60 years, retiring from Louisville Bedding in Munsonville, KY.

DuWayne enjoyed woodworking, including making several cradles. He also enjoyed bowling and fishing and had a story involving a certain fishing pole.

DuWayne is survived by: his children, DuWayne Jr, Richard, Steve, Craig, Randy, and Milton Hill; his sister, Sandra (Hill) Mejia (Antonio); as well as, many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 61 years, Joan; daughters, Linda (Hill) Lundquist, and Jacqueline (Hill) Eschman. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Beatrice (Hill) Schaefer (Seth), Rose Marie (Hill), Leal (Hector); and brother, Gilbert Hill Jr.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Ever Rest Funeral Home from 10-11 with a service to follow at 11:00. Burial will take place after the service at Egelston Township Cemetery.
