Gary was born October 14, 1954, the son of Romaine and Emily (Tackx) DeCamp. He graduated from Ravenna High School in 1972.
Gary worked for CWC Textron for over 40 years, a steady and enduring commitment that reflected the same generous spirit and kind-hearted nature so many came to know and appreciate in him.
Gary was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Cathie; and his sisters, Cathy Miller, Connie Krepps, and Karen Scharlow.
He is survived by his two sons, Scott (Pam) DeCamp and Thomas (Krysten) DeCamp; his grandchildren, Sydney, Josie, Emily, Guizzippi “Zeppi” (Fiancé' Madelyn), Morgan, and Brayden; his brother, Bob (Tini Teasley) DeCamp; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
An avid sports fan, Gary followed the Michigan State Spartans as well as the Detroit Lions, Tigers, Pistons, and Red Wings with enthusiasm and loyalty. He was also extremely dedicated to the Ravenna sports programs, working on the chain gang at football games for more than two decades, and he especially enjoyed fishing trips and the simple, meaningful time spent with family.
