Lillian C. (Hansen) Remus born to Peter M. & Louise C. Hansen in Fruitport Township. She graduated from Muskegon Heights in 1936. She managed Hansen’s Dairy Bar in Fruitport from 1938 to 1945. In 1945 she married Ray Remus. She worked with her husband at their business, Tarner Refrigeration, up to 1979 when they retired. Lillian stayed busy her entire life doing such things as teaching crafts at the “Y” for several years. She volunteered in many ways with the Muskegon Red Cross, the Muskegon Rescue Mission, on the LST-393, and probably most notably as a hiking guide at Hoffmaster State Park which has a bench along a hiking trail in her honor. She had been a member of the Muskegon Nature Club and a life member of the Gillette Natural History Association at Hoffmaster. She is survived by her brother Edwin Hansen. The siblings that have preceded her in death are Jim Hansen and sister’s Elsie Senf, Dorothy Anderson, Marion Gallup, Ellen Gehring, and Bernice Eggleton. She leaves many nieces and nephews. Per Lillian’s request cremation will take place and there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muskegon Rescue Mission.
