Marcia, a cherished soul, was born on November 20, 1940, in the heart of Muskegon, Michigan, to her loving parents, Frank and Rachel Newell. She grew up surrounded by the warm embrace of her hometown, where destiny led her to meet Gerald Chambers, the love of her life. In May of 1960, they exchanged vows, embarking on a remarkable journey together. Over the course of their 65 beautiful years of marriage, they created a nurturing home filled with love and laughter. Their journey brought them from Muskegon to California in 1962, and after 38 years, they returned to Muskegon to embrace retirement together.
Marcia’s life beautifully exemplified the strength of enduring love and the deep connections of family. Marcia was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and truly the heart and glue of her family. She had a deep love for butterflies and lighthouses, surrounding herself with their beauty throughout her home. She enjoyed dancing to country music and even took country dance lessons while living in California. Marcia had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. She took great pride in her home, always keeping it spotless and welcoming. Christmas was one of Marcia’s favorite holidays. She delighted in decorating her Christmas tree, often spending a week making sure every detail was just right. Her home during the holidays reflected the warmth and love she carried in her heart year-round.
Marcia will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 65 years, Gerald Chambers; her children, Jerry, Rick, and Dan Chambers; her grandchildren, Ryan, Amy, and Amanda; as well as many cherished great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Donald (Marilee) Newell; her special niece, Debra (Don) Rinehart, who lovingly stayed by her side; and many other dear family members and friends.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Rachel Newell; her beloved daughter, Teresa Chambers; her sisters, June and Arita; and her brothers, Bob, Fred, and Larry Newell.
Per Marcia’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
Her love, laughter, and remarkable spirit will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
