

Maria Victoria (Vicky) Strayer, age 81, of Fruitport, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2022 in her home. She was born on July 2, 1940 in Crystal City, Texas to Maria and Epigmenino Rodriguez. On June 28, 1984, she married the love of her life, Ronald Strayer of Fruitport, and they shared 38 years together. Vicky loved goodwill/ thrift shopping every Sunday, bowling, going on road trips to Texas and Milwaukee to visit her siblings, going to antique car shows and driving her VW Bug, and especially loved cooking her famous Mexican dinners and homemade salsa for her family. Vicky had worked at Lee Product/Millcore in Coopersville for 21 years and most recently was the bilingual hostess in the lobby of Burger King on Sternberg before the pandemic.
Vicky is survived by: her husband, Ron Strayer, of Fruitport; one brother, Savino (Lillian) Rodriguez; 2 sons, Juan (Rachel) Gallegos and Jack Strayer; 5 daughters, Leticia Gallegos, Shawn Tate, Kerri (Kevin) Aney, Amber (Jim) Shull, and Becky (Brent) Gauthier; and special nephew, Savino (Sonny) Rodriguez. She was known as ‘Momo Vicky’ to 29 grandchildren, 23 international grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
Vicky was preceded in death by: her parents; siblings, John, Fernando, Manuel, Joe, Theresa, and Emma; son, Oscar Gallegos; grandson, Juan Michael Gallegos; and granddaughter, Kerrigan Shull.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Muskegon Harbor Hospice for their care. Memorial donations may be made directly to Harbor Hospice.
There is no Celebration of Life or Funeral planned, per Vicky’s wishes.
