Regina was born June 27, 1940, the daughter of William and Eloise Pate. She married John Gawel on June 12, 1965. Together they were blessed with 3 children and 56 years of marriage. Jean, as she was known to everyone, looked after children most of her life. She was a dedicated member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish where she was active in the Altar Society and the Our Lady of Grace Women’s Guild. Her passion for her faith showed in everything she did and to everyone she met. Jean enjoyed attending her grandkids sporting events, dance performances, and concerts, hosting an annual Kentucky Derby Party, bartending the Irish Festival in Muskegon, watching deer and turkeys with her husband, and most of all being with her family. She was a kid at heart, and her helpful, generous, loving personality will be deeply missed.
Regina is survived by: her husband John; children, Jeffrey Gawel (and wife Karen), James Gawel (and wife Mindy Roberts), and Joseph Gawel (and wife Jennifer); grandchildren, Erin Roberts (and husband Hayden), Hannah Townshend (and husband Ryan), Wesley Gawel (and fiancé Olivia Kane), Avery Gawel, and Sean Johnson; brother, William Pate (and wife Barbara).
She was preceded in death by: her parents; and sister, Sharon Donoho.
