Robert Richard Bowen Sr., age 79 of Muskegon, passed away at home unexpectedly Sunday, February 07, 2016. He was born on April 29, 1936 in Muskegon to George Sr. and Clara (Van Oort) Bowen. Robert worked for Buck Construction until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and a member of the Fruitport Eagles. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and playing his guitar. He is survived by his wife, Dawn Bowen; his children, Robert Bowen Jr., Rita (Roger) Johnson, Susan (Steve) Barnes, and Cathy (David) Fazakerley; his grandchildren, Eric, Andy, Stacey, Marc, Abby, and Miya; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Virginia, Rosemary, and Clara; brothers, Jim, Dick, Dave, Tom, Walt, and Dan; and many extended family members and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his son, James Gerard; and brothers, Ronald, and George Jr. A funeral mass for Robert will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 11 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church; 3252 Apple Ave in Muskegon. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass, beginning at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Right to Life.
