Robert was born December 27, 1945 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. He grew up in Michigan and was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne (Screaming Eagles), from 1964 to 1970. After his military service, which included deployment to Korea and two tours in Vietnam, Robert worked most of his life as a tool and die maker and enjoyed his garden, motorcycle, video games, spending time with his kids and grandkids, and watching the Detroit Lions. And now, as his niece pointed out, the Lions have a much better chance at winning the superbowl since they have an angel in the end zone.
Robert is survived by his mother, Patsy Black (nee Mathis); three children, Niki (Mark) Harmon, Penni Mahler, and Bobby Lasko; five grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers. Robert is preceded in death by his significant other, Sandra Madison, father, Nicolas Lasko, and stepfather, Charles Black.
A memorial service is scheduled to be held on February 28, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Nunica, Michigan, with visitation from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Robert was a generous soul who never liked to see anyone go hungry, so in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a local food bank or veterans home in his honor.
