Robert served his country in World War II as a marine. After the service, Robert was a mail carrier for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, June in 2012, and his son Jim in 1993.
He is survived by his children: Kathy (Jack) Carlson, Charles (Judith) Schalk, Robert J. Schalk; 9 grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren; Sister Doris; Many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 11:00am at Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel in Muskegon. The family will greet visitors an hour prior to services. Rev. Ken Shady will officiate. Burial will be held in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
