Ruben was born on May 15, 1980 to Ruben Gonzalez-Grijalva and Geneva Gonzalez in Muskegon, Michigan. Ruben was an avid pool and poker player. He was a funny, loving, big-hearted, jokester. He was a sharp-dressed man (particularly his shoes), and his clothes were always on point. How can anyone go without knowing, meeting, and becoming a friend to Ruben? He could vibe with anyone, anywhere, any time.
Ruben was preceded in death by: father, Ruben Gonzalez-Grijalva; and grandmother, Genoveva Moreno.
Ruben is survived by: mother, Geneva Gonzalez; son, Breeze Ciontae Ealy; grandchildren, Sole’ya Estelle Ealy, and Gabriella Jhene’ Ealy; brother, Richard (Tara) Hughes; sisters, Lissa (John) Winegar, Sheila Hughes, and Sara Gonzalez; nieces, Alyssa (Chris) Gundy, and Penelope Gonzalez; nephews, Christian Ramirez, Brennen Winegar, Jalen Hughes, Avery Ramirez, Justin Winegar, Connor Winegar, Jaeger Hughes, and Jayce Hughes; many aunts and uncles; as well as, many close friends, especially his Dog House family.
There will be a memorial service on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 12:00 pm. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service. Services are being held at Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel, 1783 E. Keating Ave. Muskegon, MI 49442. There will be a luncheon following the service from 2:00pm – 4:00 pm at The Polish Falcons Club, located at 1014 W Hackley Ave, Muskegon, MI 49441.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Ruben Gonzalez Memorial Benefit, located at 1626 S. Quarterline Rd. Muskegon, Michigan 49442.
