Thomas John Jr. Bernard

14 April , 19781 November , 2019

Thomas "Tommy" John Jr. /Bernard, age 41 of Muskegon, passed away on November 1, 2019.

Tommy was known by his big, warm, and contagious smile. Family was incredibly important to him, and always made sure that he was able to attend get-togethers. He had a soft spot for animals, especially his ball python Striker that he had received as a birthday gift from his daughter Brittany. It wasn't uncommon to find him with a slushie from Wesco in his hand (always the frozen Coke!), and many of the employees at Wesco knew Tommy on a first name basis, since he was such a regular and friendly customer. When he was feeling lucky, he was known to go on trips to the casino, where he would try his hand at black jack tables and slot machines. In quieter moments, he would go fishing, enjoying the time being outside and with nature.

Tommy was preceded in death by his step-father Michael Simonson, and his father Thomas Widing.

Left to remember him is his daughter, Brittany Lewis

Granddaughter Rylee Berg

Mother Margaret Bernard and Sam Villalpando

Sister Samantha Carrillo and Robert Dyga

Half-siblings Sarah, William, and Matthew

Many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and beloved friends.

The family will be gathering privately to remember Tommy.

I am Tommy's Aunt & we had so many memories, I do not know where to start. He had a smile and sense of humor. I remember a memory that makes laugh..He was at his Grandma & dad's & at that time mine as well. He had stood up & pulled pant legs over his ankles and wet his hair down and put his grandma's eye glasses on & started acting like a Steve erkle..oh that hilarious. He also loved to walk to scribs when younger and he the fries with lots of ketchup. I am going to miss him at my door with his Wesco cup and opening the door and him smiling at me. I always would give him a big hug before he left & I always told him I loved him. I am so sorry Sam, Margaret & his daughter Brittany's loss. Breaks my heart & he will be missed.

Prayers and hugs for the family. So many years have flown by. We spent a lot of time together when Tommy was very young. One of my fondest memories was when Tommy and Steve were about two and they opened a bag of flour and a bag of sugar. The kitchen looked like it had snowed!! They had sugar rings on their mouths... but of course they didn’t do it!! Still makes me smile to think of it. I am so sorry for your loss. My heart breaks for you.
