

Mr. Wilton A. Yates, age 92, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2011. Wilton was born in Martin, Tennessee on September 4, 1918 to the late James and Minerva Yates, the youngest and last surviving of four children. On January 19, 1940 he married Wilda Hardie, and she preceded him in death on May 26, 2010 after 70 years of marriage. Wilton is survived by two children and their families, Gail (Duane) Cook, Jim (Barbara) Yates; grandchildren, Kevin Cook, Kim (Dave) Leonard, Laurel (Matt) Perrigo, Michelle (Michael) Gregg; great-grandchildren, Shaunessy Cook, Brooke and Sydni Leonard, James, Justin, and Claire Perrigo, Brendan and Cameron Lee, Mason and Karli Gregg; two sisters in law, Frances Abbott and Ann Hardie; special friend, Elda Nelson. Along with his wife he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Alexis Cook. Wilton was retired from Teledyne Continental Motors. His family and friends were his great loves on earth. His faith in his Savior made these last days ones of peace. He was a longtime member of Calvary Church, 5873 Kendra Road, where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2011 with Dr. Bill Rudd and Pastor Terry Fulk officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Calvary Christian Academy.
