With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for her life, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and aunt, Ambrosia (Amby) Mary Magas, age 96, of Nanaimo, B.C., who passed away peacefully on December 22nd, 2025.
Born in Edmonton, AB on June 15th, 1929, Amby was known for her warm smile and a spirit that brought tremendous joy to everyone she met. Amby lived a life defined by her faith as well as warmth, hospitality, and an unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a rare gift for making everyone feel important, loved, valued and respected. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures and loved to laugh with her friends and over a coffee and a piece of coconut cream pie.
Her legacy of kindness and joy remains in spirit with us and in our hearts. Rest in peace, Mom, we love you.
A Celebration of Amby’s life will take place at St. Peter’s Parish, 301 Machleary St, in Nanaimo, BC on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
