Audrey Isabella Curtis

It is with great sadness and much love that we announce the passing of Audrey Isabella Curtis on September 29, 2026, at the remarkable age of 103.

Audrey was born on July 28, 1923, on Wesley Street in Nanaimo, British Columbia, to Jane and George Addison. She spent her childhood in Nanaimo and, in 1945, married the love of her life, Bill Raymond Curtis. Together they began their journey in Port Alberni and Horsefly before returning to Nanaimo in 1948, where Audrey resided for the remainder of her life.

Audrey is lovingly remembered by her son, Garry (Christine), and her daughter, Gail (Peter). She also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren and four adored great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by her love, wisdom, and unwavering devotion.

An avid gardener, Audrey found joy in nurturing both flowers and friendships. She was a talented seamstress and quilter whose creations will continue to be treasured by those fortunate enough to receive them. Above all, Audrey cherished time spent with family and friends. Her heart was as big as they come, and she was the family’s greatest force, protector, storyteller, and keeper of history. She possessed an extraordinary memory, recalling family stories, dates, facts, and trivia right up until the day she passed.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Quinn, the nurses on the 5th floor, and the compassionate team at Nurse Next Door for the exceptional care, kindness, and support they provided Audrey and family, over the past three years.

Mom, Nan, Grandnanny, we love you deeply and will miss you beyond words. Your strength, wisdom, and love have left a lasting legacy that will live on through generations.

“If you see a fly on the wall, do not swat it, it will be me watching you!”

A celebration of Audrey’s life will be held at a later date.
