She is survived by her loving sister, Lily Thorsen and cousins in South Africa and Australia. After emigrating from South Africa, Barbara lived and worked in Washington, DC. She then came to Toronto, Canada and attended the University of Toronto where she obtained her BA (Art History) and her ESL teaching certificate. Barbara travelled extensively and had many friends who live abroad. She loved to paint and many of her pictures have found a home with friends and family. Barbara brought joy to all who came into her life with her patience, sympathetic nature, and cheeky sense of humour. She was very happy to be “adopted” into the Thorsen clan.
