Carolyn Ruth Sader (nee Penner) passed away peacefully August 30, 2025, in Nanaimo, British Columbia, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, October 6, 1943, Carolyn lived a full life of love, laughter, and dedication to her family, community and passions.
She married the love of her life, Louis Sader, August 8, 1964. For her remaining 61 years, they built a life rooted in love, humor, and shared adventures. They cherished the outdoors, spending time camping, cross-country skiing, and walking nature trails. Together, their work and passions led them to relocate to Prince Albert where Carolyn dedicated more than two decades of service to the Saskatchewan provincial government as a Deputy Sheriff. Her dedication and professionalism left a lasting impression. Known for her sharp wit and infectious sense of humor, she brought joy to those around her.
Carol and Louis eventually moved to Kelowna, BC, and spent their later years together on Vancouver Island. She was deeply involved in her communities especially through her long-standing service to Beta Sigma Phi sorority, dog shows, and TOPS where she formed lasting friendships and inspired others with her spirit and generosity. Carol also served as a dedicated volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross.
She was predeceased by her two daughters, Robyn Louise Hallet (Sader) in Saskatoon, and Jennifer Eileen Sader in Prince Albert, whose memories she carried with her always. She is survived by her husband, son David (Vermilion AB) and daughter Susan (Nanaimo). She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by many family members and friends.
One of her favourite poems, Jenny Kiss'd Me by Leigh Hunt, captures her appreciation for life's tender moments:
Jenny kiss'd me when we met,
Jumping from the chair she sat in;
Time, you thief, who love to get
Sweets into your list, put that in!
Say I'm weary, say I'm sad,
Say that health and wealth have miss'd me,
Say I'm growing old, but add,
Jenny kiss'd me.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nanaimo Hospice, whose compassionate care provided comfort in her final days.
